Cypher Challenge — Mission Briefing

// MISSION BRIEFING

Agent, you have been selected to crack 14 encoded transmissions.
Each one is written in a different code. Some are centuries old. One of them protects most of the internet.

// HOW THIS WORKS

Every decoded message is the address of your next destination.
Answers are always one word, lowercase, no spaces and no punctuation, however the plaintext is written.
You travel by changing the web address in your browser. There is no answer box anywhere on this site.
A wrong address shows NO SUCH FREQUENCY. That means the decoding is wrong or the address was mistyped, not that the site is broken.
Every stage has a FIELD NOTE. It is the only hint you get, and it is always enough. Read it twice.
You are expected to search the internet. Looking up how a cipher works is not cheating, it is the job.
Keep a notebook. Some stages need something you worked out earlier.
Two stages have audio. Headphones help.

This one is not part of the mission. It is here so you have seen the shape of the thing once before it counts.

"Not every message is encrypted. Some are merely written in the order they were not meant to be read."

The note says the order is wrong, not the letters. Read it from the right instead of the left and it says OPENCODE.

// TRAVEL

So you would put opencode on the end of this site's address and press enter. That is the whole loop: decode, then travel.

Nothing on the real mission is reversed. That trick was used here and will not appear again.
